Description SpinLord Sandwind
The SpinLord Sandwind is classified as a new type of half-Anti-spin rubber. Although the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) classifies this rubber as Anti-spin (due to the sanded topsheet which reduces friction), it differs from traditional Anti-spin rubbers.
Construction and Features
Type: Half-Anti-spin rubber (Half-Anti).
Topsheet: It is sanded to reduce friction, but it is much more elastic than is typical for Anti-spin rubbers. Due to the low friction, the rubber is highly resistant to the opponent's incoming spin.
Sponge: It uses the same slow sponge as the SpinLord Marder rubber (approx. hardness). This is not a dampening sponge, which is why the Sandwind is slightly faster compared to many other Anti-spin manufacturers that use dampening sponges.
Official Ratings: Speed , Spin , Control .
Playing Characteristics
The unique feature of the SpinLord Sandwind is its ability to combine control with offensive capabilities.
Control and Speed:
Control: The rubber boasts the highest control (rating ), allowing easy returns for any ball.
Speed: Although it is defensive, its speed is sufficient to perform aggressive strokes.
Spin:
Passivity: The rubber is designed to easily neutralize the opponent's spin. It is an ideal solution for players who struggle to receive difficult serves and underspin.
Activity: Sandwind can be played almost like a tacky inverted rubber (noppen-innen). It allows generating custom spin, performing very flat undercut balls with underspin, and even occasionally topspin strokes.
Disruptive Effect
The Sandwind creates a disruptive effect not due to the ball "dying" or having an unpredictable trajectory (like Glanzen Anti), but due to spin neutralization and the ability to unexpectedly add custom spin. The rubber is not inherently dangerous, but it is highly effective because it allows the player to easily change the incoming ball's spin and generate a spinny return themselves.
Who is it for?
This rubber is ideally suited for weaker and average players as well as better players with a weak backhand, who are looking for a solution that allows them to easily return every ball.
