DHS Cloud & Fog 3 – is a long pips table tennis rubber, designed for versatile defensive and offensive strategies. This rubber, featuring specially shaped long pips, high tension technology, and a very elastic hard sponge (1.0 mm thick) or without sponge (OX version), is effective for chopping and defense far from the table, as well as for unexpected counterattacks. DHS Cloud & Fog 3 is ideally suited for players using a DEF-ALL (defensive and all-around) strategy, aiming to control the game through spin reversal, disruptive effect, and deceptive strokes. Made in China, ITTF approved, the rubber is offered in red and black color variants, with OX or 1.0 mm sponge, providing high control, spin potential, and disruptive effect.

Main features:

  • Rubber type: Long pips, high tension

  • Speed: 45

  • Effect (spin): 62

  • Control: 65

  • Tackiness: No

  • Strategy: DEF-ALL

  • Sponge thickness: 1.0 mm or without sponge (OX)

  • Colors: Red, black

  • Country of origin: China

  • Certifications: ITTF approved

DHS Cloud & Fog 3 stands out with its advanced construction, suited for defense and deceptive counterattacks:

  • Sponge (hard and elastic): The 1.0 mm thick very elastic hard sponge (about 40–45° on the ESN scale) gives the rubber a balanced feel, allowing for a combination of control, spin, and slight speed. Compared to softer sponges, such as DHS C8 with 1.0 mm sponge, the Cloud & Fog 3 sponge is harder, ensuring firmer rebound and more effective counterattacks. The sponge enhances ball contact (dwell time), facilitating spin generation and disruptive effect, especially for push-block or mini-topspin strokes. The OX variant (without sponge) is extremely light, aimed at maximum control and spin reversal, ideally suited for classic defense far from the table.

  • Pip structure: Specially shaped long pips are designed for maximum spin reversal and disruptive effect. Their unique shape allows efficient reflection of opponent’s spin, generating strong backspin during chop or deceptive no-spin when blocking. Compared to medium-long pips, such as DHS Cloud & Fog III, Cloud & Fog 3 pips are longer and more elastic, creating a stronger disruptive effect, such as a “sinking” ball effect (wobble). The pip surface is non-tacky, optimized for spin reversal rather than active spin generation, making the rubber effective at handling incoming spin.

  • Top sheet: The top sheet is non-tacky, designed for spin reversal and disruptive effect. Compared to tacky pip-in rubbers, such as DHS 6512, the Cloud & Fog 3 top sheet is less grippy but effective at generating backspin during chop and disruptive effect when blocking. The special pip shape and elasticity ensure that the ball travels with an unpredictable trajectory, complicating the opponent’s return strokes. The top sheet is durable and wear-resistant but must be cleaned regularly to maintain its properties.

  • High tension technology: DHS Cloud & Fog 3 uses high tension technology, which pre-tensions the top sheet at the factory, increasing elasticity and slightly boosting speed in counterattacks. This technology, combined with the hard sponge, allows the rubber to generate deceptive strokes such as push-block or mini-topspin while maintaining high control when blocking and chopping. In the OX version, the high tension effect is less pronounced but still enhances the disruptive effect.

  • No anti-spin properties: DHS Cloud & Fog 3 is not an anti-spin rubber, but its long pips effectively manage incoming spin, generating a strong disruptive effect. The rubber is less sensitive to spin than pip-in rubbers, making it easier to control when blocking and chopping, though it requires technique to handle aggressive opponent strokes.

The rubber is offered with OX (no sponge) or a 1.0 mm thick sponge. The OX version weighs about 30–35 g (cut), and the 1.0 mm version about 40–42 g, making the rubber light and suitable for defensive blades. Colors – red and black – meet ITTF requirements. DHS recommends using water-based glue, such as DHS No.15, when mounting the rubber to the blade.

DHS Cloud & Fog 3 features the following technical ratings, tailored for defense and deceptive counterattacks:

  • Speed: 45. The rubber is slower, focused on control and disruptive effect, but fast enough for counterattacks, especially with the 1.0 mm sponge. The OX version generates minimal speed, aimed at maximum spin reversal and disruptive effect, ideally suited for chopping and blocking.

  • Effect (spin): 62. Due to the special long pip shape, the rubber generates strong spin during chop, blocking, and deceptive strokes. Spin potential is high, allowing the generation of backspin and disruptive effect that complicates the opponent’s returns.

  • Control: 65. The rubber offers high control, especially when blocking at the table, chopping from a distance, and performing precise deceptive strokes. The hard sponge and pip structure ensure stability, allowing accurate control of the ball’s trajectory even against difficult opponent shots.

Trajectory: DHS Cloud & Fog 3 features a low, irregular trajectory with a “sinking” ball effect (wobble) and strong spin reversal, which disrupts the opponent’s reaction. The trajectory is more variable than that of short pips rubbers, such as DHS C7 OX, making it highly effective for defense and disruptive play. The OX version enhances the disruptive effect, while the 1.0 mm sponge adds speed for counterattacks. Users emphasize the rubber’s "control," "spin reversal," and "disruptive effect," especially during chopping and blocking.

DHS Cloud & Fog 3 is suitable for various blades, especially those emphasizing control and defense:

  • DHS DEF 506: Maximizes control, suitable for classic defense.

  • Yinhe DEF-1: Balances control and spin, ideal for chopping.

  • Nittaku Barwell Fleet: Provides feel, suitable for disruptive play.

  • TSP Balsa 2.5: Lightweight blade emphasizing control and defense.

  • Stiga Defensive Classic: Provides stability, suitable for blocking and chopping.

The rubber pairs well with defensive or slower blades, as the OX version directly transmits blade characteristics, emphasizing control, while the 1.0 mm sponge adds elasticity for counterattacks. Users recommend using DHS Cloud & Fog 3 on the backhand side for chopping, blocking, and deceptive strokes, or on the forehand side for maximum spin reversal and disruptive effect.

DHS Cloud & Fog 3 is intended for players seeking control, spin reversal, and disruptive effect:

  • For defensive and all-around level players managing chop, block, push-block strokes, and deceptive counterattacks.

  • For long pips players seeking a rubber that generates strong spin reversal and unpredictable ball motion.

  • For disruptive play lovers looking for a rubber suited for backhand chopping and blocking or deceptive forehand strokes.

  • For play far from the table: Ideally suited for classic chopping, generating strong backspin.

  • For play close to the table: it excels in push-block shots and mini-topspin counterattacks, especially with the 1.0 mm sponge.

DHS Cloud & Fog 3 is valued for its disruptive effect, high control, and ability to handle incoming spin. It requires technique, but when used properly, it becomes a very effective weapon against aggressive opponents. Ideally suited for players who prefer a thoughtful, strategic, and defensive playing style.
