DHS Neo Hurricane 3 National 39° Blue Sponge – this is a top-quality inverted table tennis rubber, considered the most famous DHS rubber and the choice among players of the Chinese national team, such as Ma Long, Fan Zhendong, and Xu Xin. This rubber, featuring an extremely tacky surface and hard 39° blue NEO sponge, is the “National” version, which is considered the highest quality standard in the DHS lineup. Compared to the standard Neo Hurricane 3, the “National” version with blue sponge offers even greater tackiness, speed, and spin while maintaining high control in passive play. Designed for technically skilled attackers (OF strategy), the rubber allows a smooth transition from passive to aggressive play, ensuring stability and precision. Made in China, ITTF approved, the rubber is offered only in black color, with a 2.2 mm thick sponge, which, together with the glue layer and NEO technology, ensures exceptional performance.

DHS Neo Hurricane 3 National 39° Blue Sponge stands out with its professional construction:

Blue NEO sponge (hard): The 39° sponge (about 48–53° on the ESN scale) is hard, 2.2 mm thick, with factory-tensioned NEO technology. Compared to the orange sponge (used in other versions), the blue sponge is faster and more elastic, offering higher speed and spin, especially effective with 40+ plastic balls. The hardness ensures short dwell time, enhancing power in topspin strokes while maintaining stability in passive play. NEO technology reduces the need for boosting, though professionals often use boosters (e.g., Haifu Sea Moon) to maximize speed.

Top sheet: Extremely tacky, with ~13 pips per 5 cm horizontally and ~21 pips per 5 cm vertically, ensures high friction and spin potential. The top sheet is thicker and tackier than the commercial Neo Hurricane 3, providing a livelier feel and stronger spin for looping strokes, serves, and short play. The surface requires regular cleaning with DHS cleaner as it easily attracts dust.

Glue layer: Like other NEO rubbers, the “National” version has a thin glue layer (tuning layer), which increases elasticity and speed without illegal glues.

Pip geometry: Optimized for control compared to Hurricane 2, ensuring stability and precision in intense rallies.

No tensor effect: The rubber is not a tensor, so it lacks the catapult effect typical of European rubbers like Butterfly Tenergy 05. Speed and spin depend on player technique, and the linear power transfer provides stability.

No anti-spin properties: The rubber is very sensitive to incoming spin, requiring active technique to handle opponent's spin.

The rubber weighs about 46–48 g (cut, 2.2 mm thick), lighter than the provincial version (~50 g), but heavier than some European rubbers, e.g., DHS Gold Arc 8 (~51 g). Offered only in black color, complying with ITTF rules. DHS recommends water-based glue (e.g., DHS No.15) and a protective film.

DHS Neo Hurricane 3 National 39° Blue Sponge features the following technical ratings:

Speed: 120. The rubber is extremely fast, suitable for fast topspin strokes, looping, flat hits (smashes), and counterattacks at the table or from mid-distance. The blue sponge gives more speed than the orange one, making the rubber faster than Neo Hurricane 3 Provincial (11) or Hurricane 3 HARD 40° (99). Speed depends on the player's power and technique, especially without boosting.

Spin (Effect): 127. The extremely tacky surface generates exceptional spin, especially for looping, serves, and short pushes. The spin potential is the highest in the DHS lineup, surpassing Hurricane 3 HARD 40° (112) and Neo Hurricane 3 (118). Suitable for spin-based play and deceptive strokes, e.g., flick and short push.

Control: 90. The rubber offers high control in passive play due to the low dynamic nature characteristic of Chinese rubbers. Stable ball bounce ensures precision when blocking and in short play. Control is lower than Hurricane 3 MID 39° (95), but higher than Hurricane 2 NEO (48).

Trajectory: The rubber has a low, curved trajectory, suitable for fast looping and topspin attacks. Compared to Hurricane 3 MID 39°, the trajectory is lower, allowing pressure play, but blocking requires active technique. Users praise the “spin potential,” “speed,” and “stability,” especially in forehand play.

DHS Neo Hurricane 3 National 39° Blue Sponge suits fast blades:

DHS Hurricane Long 5X: Maximizes speed, Ma Long’s choice.
Butterfly Viscaria: Provides speed and control, suitable for professionals.
Yinhe T-11+: Lightweight carbon blade emphasizing speed.
Stiga Carbonado 190: Ensures stability and spin.
Yasaka Ma Lin Carbon: Ideal for spin-based play.

The rubber pairs best with offensive blades, as the hard blue sponge and tacky surface utilize blade characteristics. Recommended for the forehand side, but also suitable for the backhand side for technically skilled players.

DHS Neo Hurricane 3 National 39° Blue Sponge is intended for professionals and technically skilled players:

• Advanced attackers capable of topspin strokes, looping, flicks, and flat hits.
• Spin-based play, seeking maximum spin and speed.
• Aggressive players aiming for powerful forehand looping.
• Play at the table and mid-distance: Effective in looping and counterattacks.
• Serves and receive: Extremely effective for spin serves, but receiving requires technique due to spin sensitivity.

The rubber is highly effective for looping (9.9/10), flat hits (9.5/10), short play (9.0/10), serves (9.7/10), blocking (8.7/10), and counterattacks (9.6/10).

Speed (120) – extremely fast, suitable for topspin.
Spin (127) – the highest in the DHS lineup.
Control (90) – high in passive play.
Extremely tacky surface – maximum friction, durable.
Blue NEO sponge – faster and more elastic.
Stability – consistent ball bounce.

Spin sensitivity – requires technique for blocking or serve receive.
Technical demands – not suitable for beginners.

ITTF approved, suitable for top-level competition. Popular among Chinese national team players, especially for the forehand side, ideally suited for 40+ balls.

DHS Neo Hurricane 3 National 39° Blue Sponge – this is a top-quality rubber, chosen by Chinese champions. The extremely tacky surface, hard blue NEO sponge, and stability guarantee spin, speed, and control. An ideal choice for professionals aiming to dominate in looping attacks. DHS Neo Hurricane 3 National – the weapon of champions!
